Install Android 8 - Oreo on your Redmi Note 4 Now! (voLTE Working!)

Android 8 has been officially launched to a limited number of devices, the Redmi Note 4 not being one of them. But the XDA-developers community has been active, and developers abhisek987 and highwaystar_ru have successfully ported Lineage OS running Android 8 on our device.
Here's the guide to install Android Oreo on your Redmi Note 4 now with full voLTE and hence Jio support.




Warning: Although there's an extremely low chance, we are not responsible for your phone getting bricked, loss of data, frozen SD cards, blown up batteries or World War III. You are choosing to do these modifications yourself and if you point a finger at me if something goes wrong, I will just laugh at you. (And maybe help you find a solution if you're a nice person).

OS Version: 8.x Oreo
Kernel: Linux 3.1.x
Known Bugs: Fingerprint Sensor (Goodix) not working yet.

Prerequisites

  • Unlocked Bootloader
  • Custom recovery installed (CWM, TWRP, etc)
  • Experience with flashing through recovery
  • A Brain

Procedure

  1. Download the Lineage OS ROM from here.
  2. Download the Google Apps (GApps) Package from here.
  3. Optional: Backup your data. (Installing the ROM won't affect your internal storage in any way so this is just a precautionary step.)
  4. Switch off your phone, and boot into TWRP by holding down Power and Volume Up buttons together.
  5. Optional: Backup your System and Data partition
  6. Go to Wipe, and Wipe /system and /data without storage.
  7. Go to Install, select the Lineage OS ROM you downloaded and install it.
  8. After Installation, go to install again, select the GApps package you downloaded, and install it too.
  9. Reboot into system.
  10. First boot will take some time, but then your phone will boot into Lineage OS running Android Oreo!
