The hype of the OnePlus Nord

OnePlus Nord AR Launch

There is a huge market for budget smartphones in India. Every other manufacturer these days is trying to tap into that market by releasing its budget smartphones.
OnePlus just joined in.

They recently announced their budget smartphone for the masses called the OnePlus Nord. But is it something worth buying? Let's find out.

From the past few months, we have been hearing a lot about the Nord. From the leaks, it seems like they wanted to finally get a new look with the Nord. The side of the device looks like the OnePlus 8, but the front-facing camera is cut out in the pill shape.

The leaked design of OnePlus Nord came out on the 21st of June. After that, renowned tipster Evan Blass released a leaked spec sheet of the smartphone.

The Specifications

Processor

Qualcomm has confirmed that the Qualcomm 765G processor will be powering the Nord.

Apart from that, the leaked spec sheet has also confirmed that it will contain up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

There will be 2 variants available, one with 10GB RAM and 128GB storage; and one with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Display

It was further revealed that it was going to sport a 6.44 inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 408ppi. The refresh rate is expected to be 90Hz as it is not a flagship, but a midrange phone.

It might also include a fingerprint sensor underneath the display

Operating system

It will run Oxygen OS 10 out of the box which is based on Android 10.

The camera

OnePlus claims that Nord will feature a killer camera.

In their previous phones we have seen this claim come true.

According to the leaked spec sheat, this is what the camera is going to be like on the Nord.

1. Quad Rear Camera
  • 48MP primary sensor
  • 8 MP ultra-wide lens
  • 5 MP depth sensor
  • 2 MP macro lens
2. Dual Front camera
  • 32MP main sensor
  • 8MP ultra-wide sensor
It may also sport a 4115 Mah battery which means that it can last for about a workday with medium use.

The phone is expected to be available in three different color options Blue Marble, Gray Onyx, and Gray Ash.

A new launch experience

For the launch of this phone, OnePlus has been toying with quite some new ideas.

Initially, they were teasing people using their Instagram page, which led to different name speculations.

Now with the launch event, they have created a whole new virtual experience. The launch is going to be held using AR, which means the users can experience the launch sitting in the comfort of their homes and actually get a feel of the phone in their hands.

The launch invite is not available for sale anymore, but you will be glad to know that The Binary Tree has got an exclusive invite to the event, and we will be posting live updates right on our blog.

OnePlus Buds

OnePlus is also set to launch the Buds on July 21. These will be the first truly wireless earbuds from OnePlus.

These earbuds come after a month of rumors, as the company will look to take on the rapidly growing and immensely popular fully wireless segment.

OnePlus has been in the audio market for some time now, but all of their products are either neckband based or wired in nature.

Get your phone starting from July 15

The company is set to kick off pre-orders for the new model via Amazon starting July 15. Users will have to pay Rs.499 in advance for the same.

Moreover, the company claims that it will offer pre-ordering customers the benefits of more than Rs. 5000.

We predict that they will be packing in a pair of the new OnePlus Buds for the preorder customers, but take it with a pinch of salt.

Stay tuned to The Binary Tree. Next Tuesday (21st July), we are going to cover the launch of the OnePlus Nord live.
