Don't have the kind of money it takes to buy a new phone? Or maybe you just bought a device and KitKat rolled out. Maybe you have one of the friends that loves to show off and got a Nexus 5. Whatever the reason, you'll want to have the latest Kit Kat features on your android device. That is what this article is all about. Be warned, though. You must have a device running Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)+ to get these features.

I. Google Experience Launcher (GEL)

The look of the Launcher has been overhauled and now offers a cleaner experience. The app drawer now displays your installed apps over your home screen background instead of a black background. The tabs cluttering the top of the app drawer have also been eliminated. The launcher supports transparent status and navigation bars, but this only works if you're using Android 4.4 Kit Kat.

Google’s new launcher also integrates Google Now. Rather than requiring a swipe up from the home button (or a long-press on some devices) and a moment’s wait before Google Now appears, Google Now will be available with a quick swipe to the left from the home screen — no waiting for the Google Search app to load. The Google Search app is drawing the entire home screen. This also means that the Google Search app will open faster when you tap the search bar at the top of your home screen.

Widgets are still available, but only by long-pressing the home screen background. The launcher’s animations also seem much faster. Feeling interested? You can download the stock Kit Kat Launcher pulled from the Nexus 5 and use it on your JB+ Phone right now. Here are the download links :

Just download both files and install them like you do to a normal APK.

Note : For some, you’ll be able to swipe to the left and quickly access Google Search/Now, but if that’s not available, you’ll need to actually enable the new Google  installed, update it. That's It! You're done!

II. Hangouts

Google’s Hangouts app — the replacement for Google Talk –  now has integrated SMS support, eliminating the need for the separate Messaging app.

Fortunately, Google has updated their Hangouts on the play store with the Kit Kat version. You can download it now : Hangouts

III. Google Keyboard

Google Keyboard makes text input smart and easy. Glide through letters with Gesture Typing – just lift to finish a word, no spacebar required. Compose notes on-the-go with Voice Typing. With amazing word recognition and next-word prediction, Google Keyboard helps you type faster and more accurately on all your Android devices. When you can’t find the right thing to say, don’t write at all, the new Google Keyboard supports hundreds of emojis so you can express yourself in any Android app. Here is the download link :

That's all for now. The Kit Kat update has already rolled out on Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10, etc. and if your phone is a popular brand phone, then most probably the update's not far.
